DWI Arrest in New Jersey and Possible Penalties

I have been representing clients charged with DWI in New Jersey for years. I have spent countless hours getting the training necessary to be able to do this successfully. I am one of the few lawyers in the State certified in the administration of the Alcotest and the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. These are the two main tools the prosecutor will use to try and convict and a in depth understanding of these areas is essential to a great cross examination.

Given the penalties that one faces when charged with driving while intoxicated, It behooves you to seek out representation that gives you a chance to win. First offense First offense DWI is a mandatory 3 month to 1 year loss of license (7 month minimum in most instances), ignition interlock mandatory in some circumstances, thousands of dollars in fines and surcharges, community service (depends), jail time ( mandatory with third offense and in some other cases).

Second offense is a mandatory two years loss of license, mandatory community service, up to 90 days in jail, thousands of dollars in fines and the list goes on. A trial is common with second offenses since the penalties are not on any sort of sliding scale.

Third offense is a mandatory six month jail sentence and ten year loss of license. This is in addition to the mandatory ignition interlock and the countless dollars it will cost you. There is frequently no choice but to go to trial on a third offense.

This is not the time to give up. You can give yourself a chance to win or mitigate the penalties you face, but only if you due your due diligence and hire representation that knows what they are doing.
